With just three weeks to go before the African Cup of Nations kicks off in Morocco, uncertainty remains over the availability of Super Eagles defender Ola Aina.
The Nottingham Forest full-back sparked hope earlier this week by sharing photos of himself doing light training, suggesting a possible quick recovery. However, fresh reports from England have dampened those expectations.
Respected journalist Osasu Obayiuwana revealed that Nottingham Forest, through media officer Callum Davies, has refused to give a clear timeline for Aina’s return. Davies stated:“Nothing official. He posted photos of him back on the training pitch recently but not with the squad, just individual work.”
When asked about when Aina might rejoin full training or become match-fit, Davies added:“No, nothing I can share on that.”
Aina has been sidelined for weeks, and his absence could be a major blow to Nigeria’s AFCON plans. The Super Eagles are expected to open camp in early December as preparations intensify for a strong showing in Morocco.
