Atlético Madrid’s goalkeeper Juan Musso expressed his delight after the team’s dominant 4-0 win over Barcelona in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.
Atlético scored all four goals in the first half (including an own goal by Eric García, followed by strikes from Antoine Griezmann, Ademola Lookman, and Julián Álvarez), putting them in a strong position ahead of the return leg.
Musso, who played a key role with important saves, shared his happiness about his former Atalanta teammate Ademola Lookman making an immediate impact since joining the club:
“I love that Ademola Lookman is here. I know him as a person; his family, his humility, his work ethic. He helped me win the Europa League; he scored three goals in the final, he’s crazy. Having him here is a huge joy, above all because of the person he is.”
Lookman, who only arrived in Spain about a week ago, contributed significantly with a goal and an assist (four goal involvements across his first three starts for Atlético).
After being substituted in the second half, he was seen smiling and applauding the fans in appreciation.
Meanwhile, coach Diego Simeone praised Julián Álvarez for his role in the attack:
“Julian Alvarez’s assist to Lookman was fantastic. Julian also has the goal, and thank God it’s back. I’m sure he’ll clear the way for everything that’s coming.”
When asked if he expected such a result against Barcelona, Simeone replied:
“I’m not a fortune teller, but I have faith in the team, in what we do, in our people. I felt the team could play a match like this. That’s why we tried to shake things up with the line-up.”
