Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has urged her teammates to take valuable lessons from Nigeria’s disappointing campaign at the ongoing 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Following Nigeria’s quarter-final exit and failure to secure a place at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Ajibade emphasized the need for gratitude, self-reflection, and better preparation as competition in African women’s football continues to grow stronger.
“To be honest, my biggest lesson is just gratitude. We should be grateful,” Ajibade said after the defeat to South Africa.
She noted that the Super Falcons can no longer afford to be complacent, stressing that every team on the continent is improving. 
“We should learn not to be lax because the competition is fierce now. We must realize we’re not invincible; we just need to prepare more, get better, and demand more of ourselves individually and collectively.”
Ajibade’s remarks highlight the importance of continuous improvement as Nigeria looks to bounce back stronger in future international competitions.
