The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has directed Super Falcons head coach, Justine Madugu, and members of his technical crew to step down with immediate effect.
The decision was announced in a brief statement released on the federation’s official X account.
According to the NFF, the move follows the Super Falcons’ disappointing outing at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where Nigeria exited the tournament in the quarter-finals after a 1-0 defeat to Cameroon.
The team’s hopes of securing a pathway to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup also suffered a setback following a 2-1 loss to South Africa, a result that saw the Falcons miss out on a place in the inter-confederation playoffs.
Madugu had faced growing scrutiny over the team’s performances during the competition. The NFF is yet to announce replacements for him and the other members of the technical crew.
