Nigeria has been drawn into Group 15 of the men’s event for the 2026 ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals, scheduled for 29 April to 10 May in London.
The team, led by Africa’s top-ranked player Quadri Aruna, will face Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia and South Africa in what promises to be a competitive group.
The draw took place on Monday, January 26, at the Shangri‑La Hotel, The Shard, in London.
In the women’s category, Nigeria will compete in Group 11 under the leadership of Fatimo Bello, going up against Australia, Uzbekistan and Wales.
African champions Egypt received a favourable draw in the men’s event and will compete in Group 8 against Kazakhstan, Turkey and Thailand. In the women’s draw, Hana Goda leads Egypt in Group 6, where they face Algeria, South Africa and Syria.
Defending champions China headline Group 1 in the men’s competition alongside England, Sweden and Korea Republic. France, runners‑up at the last edition, are placed in Group 2 with Japan, Germany and Chinese Taipei.
In the women’s event, hosts England are drawn in Group 2 with Japan, Germany and France. China, winners of 23 Corbillon Cup titles, lead Group 1 against Korea Republic, Chinese Taipei and Romania.
The top eight seeded teams in both the men’s and women’s events will progress directly to Stage 1a, set for 2–3 May at the OVO Arena Wembley. All teams will then move on to Stage 2, with group performances determining knockout seedings.
Stage 1b will run from 28 April to 1 May at the Copper Box Arena, featuring 56 teams in each competition battling for the remaining 24 spots in the main draw.
London 2026 marks the centenary of the World Table Tennis Championships, first hosted in the city in 1926. ITTF President Petra Sörling noted, “Returning to where it all began makes this centenary edition truly special. This event is already historic, and I am confident it will also be unforgettable.”
