Head coach Mbwas Mangut has praised his team’s resilience after Nasarawa United came from behind to defeat Abia Warriors 2-1 at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Sunday.
Abia Warriors took the lead just before halftime through former Enyimba striker Chukwuemeka Obioma. However, the Solid Miners responded quickly after the break, with substitute Habibu Alakija leveling the score. Jofrank Istifanus sealed the victory in the 55th minute.
The hard-fought win lifts Nasarawa United to second place on the league table. Speaking after the match, Mangut said: “It’s a great win for us. We knew we had to stay focused and deliver today.”
Next up, the Lafia-based side will face Enyimba away on Wednesday.
