Fulham manager Marco Silva has acknowledged the significant gap that will be left in his squad as Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, and Samuel Chukwueze head to Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations camp in Egypt.
The trio have been named in the Super Eagles’ final 28-man squad for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco and could be away for up to a month, depending on Nigeria’s progress in the tournament.
Speaking ahead of their departure, Silva stressed their importance:“We are talking about three starting XI players. Alex is key in any position he plays. Calvin’s role is vital, and Chukwueze has been impressive in recent games. We have to find solutions.”
The Portuguese coach admitted replacing such influential players will be challenging but assured fans that Fulham will adapt as they navigate a busy Premier League schedule without them.
