Senegal have become the first team to book their place in the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Mali on Friday evening.
The decisive moment came in the 27th minute when Iliman Ndiaye found the back of the net for the Teranga Lions. Mali’s hopes suffered a major blow just before halftime as Yves Bissouma was shown a red card in stoppage time, leaving them with ten men for the remainder of the match.
Despite enjoying a numerical advantage, Senegal were unable to extend their lead after the break. The match ended 1-0, securing Senegal’s progression to the last four.
Next up, Senegal will face either Egypt or Burkina Faso in the semi-finals as they continue their quest for AFCON glory.
