Hull City have opened discussions with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) regarding a possible extension of Semi Ajayi’s stay before his release for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The Super Eagles are set to begin their pre-tournament camp in Cairo on December 10, with Ajayi expected to join on December 11. However, Hull City is reportedly requesting a three-day delay, which would allow the defender to feature in their crucial Championship clash against Millwall on December 14.
This request comes amid reports that FIFA could sanction clubs releasing players on or after December 15, potentially giving Hull City room to keep Ajayi for that fixture.
Ajayi, 31, is a key player for the Tigers and could miss up to seven matches if Nigeria reaches the AFCON final. Negotiations are ongoing as the countdown to the continental tournament continues.
