
Rivers United suffered a 2-1 defeat to Morocco’s RS Berkane in their CAF Champions League matchday two fixture at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Friday night.
The Port Harcourt side, led by Finidi George, remain without a point in Group A after back-to-back losses in the competition. Rivers United took the lead in the 37th minute when Berkane’s Mamadou Camara scored an own goal, raising hopes of a home victory.
However, the visitors struck late, with Youness El Kaabi equalizing in the seventh minute of stoppage time and Mounir Chouiar netting the winner moments later, leaving fans disappointed.
Defending champions Pyramids FC face Power Dynamos of Zambia in the group’s other fixture on Saturday. Rivers United will travel to Zambia for their next game against Power Dynamos on January 23, 2026.
