Nigeria Premier Football League side Warri Wolves have been sanctioned by the NPFL for violating league rules during their Matchday 36 fixture against Plateau United on Sunday, May 3, 2026, according to reports.
The league stated that Warri Wolves failed to provide adequate security for the match, allowing unauthorized individuals access to restricted areas of the stadium. The club’s supporters were also cited for unsporting behaviour capable of bringing the game into disrepute.
Additionally, the supporters were found guilty of gross misconduct towards match officials, an incident that reportedly caused a 10‑minute delay in the game.
As a result, the NPFL fined Warri Wolves ₦2 million for inadequate security, ₦1 million for the unsporting conduct of supporters, and an additional ₦3 million for misconduct directed at match officials.
The league further ordered the club to play their remaining home matches behind closed doors and directed them to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those responsible, with evidence to be submitted to the NPFL.
Warri Wolves have been given 48 hours from the date of notice to appeal the sanctions.
