Morocco may have fallen 1–0 to Senegal in the AFCON 2025 final, but the tournament delivered huge economic and infrastructural benefits for the country.
Industry and Commerce Minister Ryad Mezzour says Morocco generated over €1.5 billion in direct revenues, helping fund nearly 80% of the infrastructure needed for the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The event attracted around 600,000 visitors and contributed to a record 20 million tourists in 2025, boosting transport, hospitality, and local businesses.
The government invested €2.3 billion in AFCON, leading to new or upgraded stadiums, improved roads, airports, and public services. More than 100,000 jobs were created, while advances in 5G, digital ID systems, online ticketing, and cybersecurity further strengthened Morocco’s systems.
CAF also recorded its most profitable edition yet, with revenues projected at $192.6 million. Officials say the tournament accelerated development and positioned Morocco strongly ahead of the 2030 World Cup.
