As anticipation builds for the upcoming World Cup playoff tournament in Morocco, Benin Republic head coach Gernot Rohr has expressed his support for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The mini-tournament will feature Nigeria, Gabon, Cameroon, and DR Congo, with only one team securing a spot at the World Cup.
Nigeria will face Gabon in the first semifinal at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat on Thursday, November 13. Cameroon will take on DR Congo at the El Barid Stadium the same day.
Rohr, who previously managed Nigeria for five years before taking charge of Benin, believes the Super Eagles have the talent and squad depth to succeed.
“Nigeria has many top-level players and strikers. We tried against them but couldn’t manage a win,” Rohr said in an interview with Brila FM. “We beat them during the qualifiers and were proud of that result, but I’ll be supporting the Super Eagles in the playoffs.”
