Coach Eric Chelle is set to reveal the final Super Eagles squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup African playoffs this Friday, ahead of the team’s advance delegation heading to Morocco on Saturday.
According to a Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) official, invitation letters have already been sent to players’ clubs. All invited players are expected to report directly to camp in Morocco by Monday — a move aimed at simplifying logistics due to its proximity to Europe.
The squad will feature a mix of new faces and returning players. Among the forwards selected are Victor Osimhen, Akor Adams, Tolu Arokodare, and Paul Onuachu, who’s currently in top form in Turkey. Midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, on loan at Pisa from Inter Milan, is also included.
Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye makes a return, while Brentford defender Michael Kayode is left out for now as he weighs his international future between Nigeria and Italy.
The Super Eagles will face Gabon on November 13 in their opening playoff match. If successful, they’ll take on the winner of Cameroon vs DR Congo on November 16 for a spot in the inter-confederation playoff.
