Nigeria’s U-18 boys’ volleyball team got their 2026 CAVB U-18 African Nations Volleyball Championship campaign off to a winning start, defeating Morocco 3-0 in Alexandria, Egypt.
The Nigerian side showed discipline and composure throughout the match, securing a straight-sets victory of 32-30, 25-21, 25-18 to earn their first win in Group A.
The opening set was fiercely contested, with both teams matching each other point-for-point before Nigeria edged the battle 32-30. Buoyed by that breakthrough, the young Nigerians grew in confidence, taking control of the match with a 25-21 win in the second set and sealing the contest with a commanding 25-18 victory in the third. 
The result gives Nigeria an early boost in Group A, where they are also set to face hosts Egypt and Burundi in their quest for a place in the knockout stage.
In Group B, Cameroon, Tunisia, Algeria, and Libya are competing for qualification, with the top teams from each group advancing to the next phase of the championship.
Nigeria will now turn attention to their remaining group matches as they continue their pursuit of continental success.
