Kompany: PSG’s Defensive Discipline Cost Bayern Champions League Final Place.

Vincent Kompany has pointed to Paris Saint-Germain’s defensive discipline as the key reason Bayern Munich exited the Champions League.

The Bayern manager was speaking after his side drew 1–1 with PSG in the semi‑final second leg at the Allianz Arena, a result that confirmed a 6–5 aggregate defeat following their 5–4 loss in Paris.

Reflecting on the tie, Kompany said the margins were small but praised PSG for how well they handled Bayern’s attacking threat.

“It’s obviously tough to take; we lost narrowly. We matched PSG, these games are decided by small details,” he said.

“Our first half was good. I felt that we were the better team and often got into the areas where we are dangerous, but PSG defended the crosses very well.”

Kompany added that the French champions stayed sharp throughout the match and limited Bayern’s opportunities in front of goal.

“They were very active. Although we got into dangerous situations, they made sure we didn’t get the final shot off. The Champions League is over for us for now.”

PSG advance to the final, while Bayern’s European campaign comes to an end at the semi‑final stage.
