Plateau United Technical Adviser Gbenga Ogunbote has cautioned his players against complacency following their emphatic 4–1 victory over Ikorodu City on Matchday 33.
Despite the convincing win at the Lafia City Stadium, Ogunbote stressed that the team is still not completely out of the relegation battle. The result moved Plateau United up to 8th place, leaving them six points clear of the drop zone.
“We have five games left in the season, and as we stand we are not completely free from the drop zone,” Ogunbote said.“I’ve made the players understand that a good game must come with beauty and success. We can’t afford to toy with games,” he added.“A loss or a draw will give us a temporary setback, and that’s something we can’t afford.”
Plateau United will next face Rivers United in Port Harcourt on Sunday, as the fight for safety continues.
