Director General of Nigeria’s National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade, has ruled out any chance of Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle leaving his role despite reported interest from Tunisia, Gabon, and Angola.
Chelle, who led Nigeria to a Bronze medal at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, has less than a year left on his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation. However, Olopade insists the Malian tactician is staying put.
“Eric Chelle is not going anywhere. The countries showing interest don’t have the kind of top players that make his job easier. He succeeded here because he had the right tools and quality personnel to execute his ideas,” Olopade told Footy-Africa.
Olopade also revealed he recently had dinner with Chelle in Abuja and spoke with the NFF President, hinting at further discussions this week.
