Angola’s head coach Patrice Beaumelle has voiced strong criticism of FIFA’s decision to delay the mandatory player-release date for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The global body recently shifted the release date from December 8 to December 15, a move widely linked to pressure from European clubs. This adjustment has drawn backlash from African football stakeholders, who argue it disrupts team preparations just days before the tournament kicks off in Morocco on December 21.
Beaumelle expressed his frustration, stating that FIFA does not give AFCON the recognition it deserves compared to major tournaments in Europe and South America. 
He emphasized that AFCON remains one of the most vibrant football events globally and should be treated with equal respect.
