Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso says his team initially pushed for more goals against Remo Stars but gradually eased off as the match progressed.
The South African champions secured a 2-0 win in the second leg, completing a dominant 7-1 aggregate victory to book their spot in the group stage.
“We approached this match with full seriousness,” Cardoso told The South African. “Just look at the line-up we chose.”
He acknowledged that the intensity dropped in the latter stages due to the heat and the comfortable aggregate lead, but emphasized his desire for more attacking presence in the final minutes.
Cardoso also noted that some players managed their energy to avoid fatigue and injury as the game wore on.
