Chippa United manager Vusumuzi Vilakazi has raised concerns about Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali’s availability for the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Vilakazi revealed that Nwabali is still recovering from an ankle injury sustained during international duty with the Super Eagles, and also requires surgery on his hand.
“I don’t think he’ll make it to AFCON, but when I spoke to him, he was confident about recovering soon,” Vilakazi told SuperSport.“He aggravated the hand injury in Morocco and has been playing through it for a while.”
Nwabali has been Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper even before Eric Chelle took over as head coach of the Super Eagles.
