Gabriel Magalhaes and Jurrien Timber are both in doubt ahead of this weekend’s north London derby.
Magalhaes left the pitch in Brazil’s friendly game against Senegal with what appeared to be a groin injury. No updates yet on the length of his spell on the sidelines but it is highly unlikely that he will feature for Arsenal against Tottenham.
This would be a big miss for the gunners as the Brazilian defender is one of their main weapons in terms of his goals from set pieces.
The bright side for Arsenal fans is that players like Piero Hincapie, Riccardo Calafiori and Christhian Mosquera are there to pick up the slack.
Jurrien Timber’s situation seems less serious, although he was captured with a bloody knee after being on the receiving end of a crunching tackle during Netherland’s World Cup qualifying match against Lithuania. The Dutch full-back was however able to resume play after receiving medical attention.
Whether or not he will feature against Spurs this weekend is also yet to be confirmed. Ben White and Christhian Mosquera are possible replacements.
Once again the international break seems to be negatively affecting club football.
