Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka has made history by becoming only the ninth Nigerian player to lift the EFL Championship trophy since the competition was rebranded in 2004.
Coventry City were confirmed champions on Sunday, securing promotion to the English Premier League, with Onyeka playing a key role throughout a successful campaign. The midfielder’s energy and consistency were central to Coventry’s title charge.
Onyeka now joins a select and distinguished group of Nigerian footballers to have achieved the feat in the English second tier in the modern era — a reflection of both his individual impact and Nigeria’s growing influence in European football.
