CAF Faces Defining Moment as Legal Expert Weighs In on AFCON 2025 Final Fallout.

CAF is still assessing the disruption that halted the AFCON 2025 final, and legal analyst Adil Mouline warns that Senegal’s decision to abandon the match could have major implications for African football.

In a statement on X, Mouline said the incident is a critical test of CAF’s authority, stressing that the ruling must balance justice and deterrence. He argued that no team should benefit after violating competition rules and cautioned that a soft response could send the wrong message for future tournaments.

Mouline’s proposed sanctions are severe, including Senegal’s disqualification from the final, the loss of any title claim and suspension from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, along with possible bans for key officials.
