Nigeria’s shot put star Chukwuebuka Enekwechi opened his 2026 season in dominant fashion, claiming victory at the Orlen Cup Łódź in Poland.
The African record holder won the men’s shot put event at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver meet with a season’s best throw of 20.82 metres.
Enekwechi finished ahead of Romania’s Andrei Toader, who recorded 20.55 metres, while Serbia’s Armin Sinančević placed third with a mark of 19.93 metres.
The strong start highlights Enekwechi’s promising early-season form as he builds toward major competitions later this year.
His winning performance in Łódź reinforces his status as one of Africa’s leading field athletes and sets a positive tone for the rest of his 2026 indoor campaign.
