French coach Julien Mett has heaped praise on Nigeria’s attacking strength and singled out Akor Adams for his impressive performances at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025.
Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated semifinal clash between Nigeria and Morocco, scheduled for Wednesday night at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Mett said:
“Nigeria are the strongest in attack. They have more weapons, especially with players like Lookman and Osimhen, and also Chukwueze, who can come on as a substitute. Plus, Akor Adams has been a surprise in this tournament.”
Mett believes Nigeria’s depth in attack gives them an edge over Morocco’s Atlas Lions:
“For me, Nigeria has more attacking choices, while Morocco keeps playing hard, but Brahim Diaz is really stand out. When he comes off, you start wondering who will finish the chances for Morocco. There is a clear Moroccan strategy focused on keeping the ball high up the field.”
Akor Adams’ Impact at AFCON 2025
Adams has been involved in four goals so far, scoring in Nigeria’s emphatic win against Mozambique and again in their latest match against Algeria. Only four players have more goal contributions:
- Ademola Lookman (7)
- Victor Osimhen (6)
- Brahim Diaz (5)
- Mohamed Salah (5)
The Sevilla forward has become a key figure in Nigeria’s knockout stage success.
