John Obi Mikel has shared his thoughts on Alex Iwobi’s recent video ahead of Nigeria’s 4-1 win over Gabon.
Iwobi posted a silent clip showing the Super Eagles’ hotel in Morocco before their World Cup playoff games against Gabon and DR Congo. The team was lodged at Rive Hotel in Rabat.
The video sparked mixed reactions online, with some fans questioning the Nigeria Football Federation’s preparedness. Iwobi later clarified that he didn’t intend to criticize the hotel or the football authorities.
Speaking on the Obi One Podcast, Mikel suggested that players should be mindful of timing when sharing content before big matches:
“Two days before the game, you don’t want negativity around the team. If I was captain, I’d ask him to take it down.”
Nigeria went on to beat Gabon 4-1 in extra time but lost to DR Congo in the final playoff match.
