Inter Miami midfielder Sergio Busquets has officially announced that he will retire at the end of the 2025 Major League Soccer (MLS) season.
The veteran midfielder shared the news via a video on Instagram, reflecting on a career that has spanned nearly two decades. During this time, Busquets represented Spain and Barcelona, winning numerous major titles including LaLiga, Copa del Rey, UEFA Champions League, the FIFA World Cup (2010), and two UEFA European Championships (2008, 2012).
“It’s time to say goodbye to my career as a professional soccer player,” Busquets said in the video. “It has been almost 20 years of enjoying this incredible story that I always dreamed of.”
Busquets joined Inter Miami in 2023, teaming up with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba.
