Eintracht Frankfurt defender Nnamdi Collins is no longer eligible to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The German Football Association has officially secured Collins’ international future, edging out the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in the race for the talented player.
Collins made his senior debut for Germany in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Slovakia in Bratislava on Thursday. Born in Germany to a Nigerian father, the 21-year-old had previously been eligible to play for Nigeria.
However, his competitive appearance for Germany now cap-ties him to the former World Cup champions, in line with FIFA regulations. Players can only switch national teams if they’ve played three or fewer senior matches before turning 21.
Collins turned 21 on January 10, making him ineligible to switch allegiance to Nigeria.
