Arsenal have been heavily linked with Chelsea winger Noni Madueke. This has left us wondering how he would fit into their system, seeing as they already have Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri who both play on the right. Now it is obvious that the gunners will retain Saka as the starter come next season. The question now is who would be the back up between Ethan and Noni? Ethan Nwaneri came through the ranks as a breakout talent along side Myles Lewis-Skelly in a period of serious injury crisis for the red side of north London. His standout performances in the club’s time of need cemented his place as a first team player. However breaking into the first team and breaking into the starting XI are two completely different things as Bukayo Saka reclaimed his starting spot almost immediately upon his return from injury. The gunners have been trying to agree on terms for a contract renewal with the young star, but things have proven difficult so far because Ethan and his camp are asking for assurances with regards to playing time. The potential arrival of Noni Madueke only complicates things further as he would probably be seen as the back up to Saka ahead of Nwaneri. This could make any form of agreement between Arsenal and Nwaneri difficult if his future at the club is to be on that right wing. At the same time, there has been speculation that Nwaneri’s future could be more central, perhaps as a back up to the Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard. If such were to be the case, the recruitment of Madueke would not be an issue. At the end of the day, one thing is sure; the gunners need some serious signings to come in if they are to mount a title challenge next season.
